Glitch

Project details

Location

Miami, Florida

Program

Design and Architecture High School

The goal of this project is to create spaces that replicate the effect of a digital glitch in the physical world. This concept utilizes a vertical staggering of floor plates and programming to cultivate a unique narrative as occupants move through the building. This intentional dislocation ensures that each floor contains one or more rooms that differ from one another, enhancing a sense of interruption and curiosity.

As users ascend from the ground floor to the top level, the “glitch” effect becomes more pronounced. The building’s facade features a dynamic interplay of vertical and horizontal elements that are strategically looped and staggered across the exterior. This design disruption allows for a play of light and shadow, as natural light filters through the openings, enriching the interior. Overall, this design not only challenges conventional spatial perceptions but also encourages a distinctive interaction between the building and its surroundings.
